Frequently Asked Questions

What is Toontown's Funny Farm?

Toontown's Funny Farm is a single-player spin-off of Disney's Toontown Online. The game's events take place after the famous closure of Toontown, and serve as a "sequel" to the original game. In addition to the Toons relocating to a new town, the Toons are taking new approaches to defeating the evermore powerful Cogs of Cog Nation, Incorporated. New gags, technologies, and strategies for battling the business robots are a key component to gameplay, and these features will keep you immersed in a wondrous and hilarious adventure.

How is this game different from Toontown Online?

The first difference you might notice is that Toontown's Funny Farm is single-player, and therefore we've made lots of gameplay adjustments and additions to accommodate that. The game also takes place in a brand new setting: the world of Funny Farm. Funny Farm has several neighborhoods that reflect similar themes to the original neighborhoods of Toontown. For now, however, only the first playground (appropriately named "Funny Farm") is available for Toons to explore. More playgrounds will become available in future updates! Lastly, it features a brand new quest progression and storyline. Because the game is single-player, it will naturally have a heavier focus on the story so that you don't get bored!

Why is there no multi-player support?

Sticking to being open and honest with our community, it's just not feasible at this time.

The truth is, running an MMORPG server is a LOT of work. You may not think it is, but trust us, it is. We don't have the resources capable of running a server of high capacity, and because of this we want to do our best to provide fun, exciting, new content for our community without potentially endangering Toontown's lifespan in any way.

Who's behind all this?

We are a small team of friends that dedicated our spare time to developing the game whenever we could. This was not a full-time job for any of us; this was simply a fun project for us and the public to enjoy. While the project has been discontinued, most of us still remain in contact with one another.

Why does my launcher crash upon opening?

Chances are, you're still using the old launcher that we provided back when we released Game Update v1.3.5! Simply uninstall the game from your computer and then re-download it from the PLAY page to fix this issue. Keep in mind that we've had a major restructuring both with the game and behind-the-scenes, so any Toons you created before v1.4.2 will not show up.

Why do I get "Error: InvalidToken" when attempting to load the game?

Unfortunately back when we released Game Update v1.4.0, we were plagued with multiple database bugs that would cause players to lose their progress randomly, no matter what they did. We tried to fix this in v1.4.1, but more bugs occurred. We then took the drastic action of rewriting the database code entirely, essentially starting from scratch, in order to ensure we had a database that worked flawlessly. This heavy change was released in v1.4.2, and so far has been very successful! Sadly, this means that progress saved in the database from v1.4.0 and v1.4.1 are considered redundant to the game's code, which means you will be met with the error code above when attempting to load the game.

Luckily, it's possible to correct this and regain access to the game! Since the game doesn't automatically delete the old database files, you'll have to do this yourself. Follow the steps below:

  1. Open a Run prompt by hitting the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard
  2. Type %localappdata%\Toontown's Funny Farm and hit Enter
  3. Enter the win32 or win64 folder found in the new window that just opened
  4. Right-click on the database folder and hit Delete

If you've followed the above steps correctly, you should now be able to boot up the game and play again! No more "Error: InvalidToken"! Sorry about the hassle, this won't happen again! It's smooth sailing from here on out.

NOTE: If you're a macOS user, this guide won't apply to you as v1.4.2 was the first release for the macOS version of the game.

Can I play Toontown's Funny Farm on macOS 10.15 Catalina?

Yes, you can! In the 10.15 Catalina update, Apple made a security change to macOS which requires all software to be given consent by the user to monitor inputs, such as keystrokes sent by the keyboard. This has a major impact on many games, and Toontown's Funny Farm is no exception to that. We would like to ensure you, the player, that we are not monitoring your keystrokes in an invasive manner, but rather just allowing the game's code to know what you want to do! If the game couldn't monitor your keystrokes, you wouldn't even be able to move your Toon!

If you are playing Toontown's Funny Farm for the first time on macOS 10.15 Catalina, please follow the steps below in order to ensure your experience is as smooth as possible:

  1. Open System Preferences
  2. Click on Security and Privacy
  3. Click on Privacy, click on the lock and enter your password
  4. Click on Input Monitoring, and then click on the plus (+) symbol
  5. Select the Toontown's Funny Farm Launcher from the Applications list
  6. Confirm your choice by checking the box

You should now be able to play the game like normal. Have fun!

I have another question! Where should I go to get a response?

Unfortunately, Toontown's Funny Farm is no longer accepting any public inquiries at this time. If you know one of our former staff members personally, you may reach out to us and ask further questions, but since the game has been discontinued, we cannot guarantee that any further problems related to the game can be resolved.
